Teaching Statement
As a dance educator, I believe in creating an environment that is going to be beneficial for my students and I. My number one goal when teaching students is making sure they feel comfortable to express all emotions in class. Dance is a powerful vessel for communicating and students will be encouraged to express themselves both vocally and through movement. The environment I provide to my students will always be one with an emphasis on individual growth as a dancer and a person.
Teaching my students strong technique with classical ballet being at the core is extremely important to me, but teaching my students real life lessons is far more rewarding. I strive to always be someone who touches the lives of those that I come in contact with and that goal will be translated to my students. Another important aspect of my teaching style is the emphasis on positivity. Encouraging my students to speak positively about themselves and their classmates remains high on my priority list. Encouraging students to be confident in who they are both externally and internally helps build character that will last well into their adult years. I will always allow my students to experience the joy of dance and instill a passion in them to work hard at whatever they put their mind to. While technique is important, above all else, I want my students to feel excitement when they walk into dance class.
